Last week, a few of our Garland Hearters attended the Global Leadership Summit hosted by Willow Creek Association (WCAGLS). This Summit is a two-day, world-class leadership event experienced by more than 170,000 leaders around the world, representing more than 14,000 churches. The speakers were very inspiring. Here are a few highlights we wanted to share with you:
1. Colin Powell emphasized the importance of “followership” as the basis for successful leadership. In other words, a good leader invests in and serves the people being led.
2. Best selling author Patrick Lenicioni provided a framework on how to love others through the work you perform by reminding us to:
- notice the work performed by others
- demonstrate how that work makes a difference
- empower your coworkers and staff to be able to measure their performance
3. Chris Brown encouraged leaders to give of their knowledge and “power” even if it meant investing in people that might become your replacement.
4. Lisa Wiseman pointed out there is latent, unused talent all around us, and she encouraged all leaders to work toward becoming a “multiplier” rather than a “diminisher”.
5. Bill Hybel challenged leaders to ‘be not afraid’ and have the courage to make the decisions in your business that nobody else can.
6. Dr. Brene Brown described how the death of ‘fear of failure’ makes innovation impossible.
These are highlights from just a few of the speakers….they all pushed our boundaries and expressed ideas that put our skills and business in perspective. This conference is highly recommended to any business owner, leader, employee, or manager as a must attend conference. Well done #WCAGLS!
