This article published in late 2012 is still very relevant in the core banking market place, however, some of the software firms have recognized the need to improve on their legacy system and have been able to maintain some “on the fence” clients. These banks have all but demanded some changes and they are getting it in writing with new contracts. In addition, many are getting significant price improvements with contract renewals. I continue to encourage banks to make all the contract coterminous to have the best bargaining power for future renewals.
